The Family Bible

I hold a family Bible, it was meant for someone else.
But I'll treasure it forever and I've kept it to myself.
For it holds some precious memories, all happy, no regret.
Each holds a different meaning of the things I won't forget.

There are things my Mother taught me.
And pictures that friends gave.
There's a pressed rose of my Father's
Which was laid upon his grave.

There's a picture of their grandchild.
They had waited for so long.
There are words between the pages,
of my Mother's favorite song.

To me, this Bible's precious, for you see they weren't my own
They took me in when I was little, gave me love, a Christian home.
Raised me so I'd know my Saviour, helped me when I was alone.
Written in this precious Bible . . "Give to her when I am gone."

So I'll treasure this dear Bible.
'Til the day God calls me home.
And I hope to see their faces,
Standing by God's Shining Throne.
